Edwin Edwards, the flamboyant former governor of Louisiana, is back home after serving an eight-year prison sentence for attempting to sell a casino license to then owner of the San Francisco 49ers, Ed DeBartolo.

Edwards is 84.

His fiancé, Trina Grimes Scott, announced on a Facebook posting that Edwards had completed a six-month home detention requirement and was "free at last."

She also revealed that Edwards planned to embark on a book tour and was in talks for a reality TV show.

During his political heyday, Edwards was a frequent, and popular, visitor to the casinos on the Las Vegas Strip.
