Boyd Gaming hoping for federal regulation of internet poker

Boyd Gaming has added its name to the list of companies hoping for federal action to regulate Internet poker but will accept a “state-by-state approach” to getting the games going.

“We continue to believe Congress should enact a national structure,” Boyd CEO Keith Smith said, “and when it does the growth opportunities available to us will be substantial. We have positioned the company to take full advantage of online gaming through our joint venture with digital entertainment (PartyPoker.)

Well-placed followers of congressional attitudes project increasing doubt lawmakers will enact legislation this year. They see Congress as being focused on presidential politics, which party will control Congress and not much else.
