As a part of a labor protest, Unite-HERE staged a protest in front of Carl Icahn’s Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City last week. Among the protesters were 21 Tropicana employees who were arrested along with 28 other union members for blocking a roadway.

Tropicana President Tony Rodio suspended the 21 employees.

The union protested, claiming the suspensions were illegal. The union filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board seeking an intervention to restore the employees’ status.

Rodio said he expected the NLRB complaint but said he believed he had acted properly. He also indicated the employees might be fired.
