Ellis Park owner to have Instant Racing machines installed

While the legal battle over Kentucky’s Instant Racing gambling machines rages unresolved, Ellis Park owner Ron Geary says he plans to have the machines installed and operating by Labor Day.

The move comes in the wake of a recent Appeals Court decision that sent the matter back to district court for further exploration of the issues surrounding the games.

So far, the only track with the machines that permit wagering on previously run races is Kentucky Downs. Opponents charge the machines are nothing more than illegal slot machines.
