Peninsula Gaming LLC, the Iowa-based gaming company, has been fined $9,300 by the U.S. Labor Department, which charged it had found wage and child labor law violations at the company’s two Iowa casinos.
Officials said they found teenagers working at the Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood. They were operating trash compactors in violation of federal safety provisions. Also, they said they found overtime and record-keeping violations at the Northwood casino and at the Diamond Jo Riverboat Casino in Dubuque.
The company has an agreement to be acquired by Boyd Gaming Corp.
