After suffering through several days of heavy rains caused by Hurricane Isaac, Louisiana residents turned out in droves to welcome the opening Saturday of L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge, the $368 million development of Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. (PNK).
The “robust” crowd waited anxiously as a ceremonial “throw of the dice” marked the occasion with Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden joining Pinnacle CEO Anthony Sanfilippo, property vice president and GM Mickey Parenton and Pinnacle’s regional vice president Geno Iafrate participating.
Addressing the crowd, Mayor Holden said, “We welcome the opening of L’Auberge Casino and Hotel in Baton Rouge with the more than 1,000 new jobs and 1,200 construction jobs it has created that positively impact our local economy. “
The new property features a 74,000 square foot casino, nearly 1,500 slot machines and 50 table games, including a poker room. The 12-story hotel has 205 guest rooms and a rooftop pool.
“This is the moment we have been planning for,” said Parenton. “Out team is excited to unveil a new level of hospitality and gaming to the Baton Rouge market.”
