If support of the American Gaming Association’s Global Gaming expo (G2E) can be used as an indicator, the gaming industry is in for a major boost.
The AGA has announced that its G2E is experiencing exhibit hall sales not seen since 2009. To date, the AGA reported, more than 413 companies have registered for more than 259,000 square feet of exhibit hall space, an increase of more than 4 percent compared with the 2011 event.
There 2012 sales figures include more than 65 international exhibitors with more than 42,000 square feet of exhibit space, the AGA said.
“This is the first time we’ve seen significant growth year-over-year since 2007, and we are extremely encouraged by the sales numbers and what they mean for the casino gaming industry,” said Courtney Muller, senior vice president at Reed Exhibitions, the AGA’s partner in the G2E presentation.
“Additionally,” said Muller, G2E’s attendance numbers are tracking ahead of last year’s event, indicating a strong interest by industry buyers to discover new products and services that will contribute to the success of their businesses.”
The AGA said that nearly all product categories are seeing an increase in exhibit space. Those that are experiencing the largest increases include: bingo, bill and coin validators, card dispensers, gaming machine components, interactive gaming, online/Internet gaming, player and slot tracking systems, and others.
As the AGA and Reed Exhibitions prepare for the G2E 2012, they announced the results of this year’s All In for Responsible Gaming Contest, a contest that is held nationwide in conjunction with the annual Responsible Gaming Education Week.
The winners were: Essay, Amy Nakatani, a junior engineer at Shuffle Master Inc., Las Vegas; Poster, Jose I. Casas, a bus greeter, Ameristar Casino Hotel in East Chicago, Indiana, and Video, Josh Sedabres, a client systems analyst for Argosy Casino in Alton, Illinois.
