While two major gaming companies fight over Maryland’s Question 7 on the November ballot, three Maryland county executives have expressed their support for the side that favors expanded gambling.
The executives from three separate counties said approval of Question 7 would create thousands of construction jobs and mean hundreds of millions of dollars for Maryland.
The initiative is supported by MGM Resorts International (MGM), which hopes to build an $800 million casino in Prince George’s County. It is opposed by Penn National Gaming Inc. (PENN), the operator of casinos in both Maryland and West Virginia that would be negatively impacted by the MGM property.
