On another front, Wynn Resorts announced over the weekend it was creating a new development division that would be headed by Gamal Aziz, who is one of several executives at MGM Resorts International who have resigned their posts.
Aziz, a former Wynn employee, will be listed as president and COO of the newly-formed Wynn Resorts Development LLC.
“I cannot think of a better way to start the New Year than by announcing my former colleague, Gamal Aziz, will rejoin our company as president and chief operating officer of our new development company, Wynn Resorts Development LLC,” said Steve Wynn, chairman of Wynn Resorts Ltd.
“Gamal helped us to create and open the Bellagio and has enjoyed tremendous success in the intervening years at MGM Resorts International. He has decided to return to our family and will lead our expansion plans as we enter an exciting, new phase in the growth of our company.
“Our activities in North America and Cotai require that the company expand its leadership. Therefore, Gamal will be working directly with me to develop and operate these future resorts.”
Aziz has served as president and CEO of MGM Hospitality since the division was founded in 2007. Other executives who have resigned from MGM in the past month include William McBeath and Felix Rappaport.
