Video poker remains king in Las Vegas’ "locals" casinos, and its realm should spread with the advent of its first wide-area progressive jackpot.
At the recent G2E expo, IGT unveiled the industry’s first wide-area progressive for video poker with its Super Times Pay Mega Progressive.
Similar to slots’ wide area progressives, such as Megabucks and Wheel of Fortune, Super Times Pay progressives link machines throughout a region with jackpots that increase until they’re hit.
"Super Times Pay is the most popular game we’ve invented in many years," said Mike Fields, executive vice president of Action Gaming/videopoker.com, which creates many of IGT’s video poker games. "Blending this really exciting and fun game with a big jackpot is a no brainer."
Video poker jackpots are ordinarily fixed, or limited to stand-alone progressives. The new game gives video poker players a shot at bigger awards, including a chance of winning a million dollars or more.
In the Super Times Pay video poker game, the jackpot is triggered by the first 10X Royal Flush win in any game with maximum credits bet. Played on the Triple Play format in both quarter and dollar denominations, the progressive amounts start at $50,000 and $100,000, respectively.
Of all the video poker games to be chosen for a wide-area progressive jackpot, Super Times Pay was a natural. Super Times Pay is the first video poker game with incremental betting to be embraced by players, and the mega-jackpot is linked to the top multiplier.
The attraction of the game has always been the multipliers, which range from 2X to 10X, giving players the opportunity to multiply their poker payoffs. And, since the multipliers appear every 15 hands, on average, the players are guaranteed exciting action.
For players unfamiliar with Super Times Pay video poker, they can get a preview and play a sample game at videopoker.com, which also features online versions of all the popular video poker games.
