Connecticut’s two Indian casino operators, both of which have been under severe financial pressures since the recession, have decided to seek a casino license in Massachusetts.
Mohegan Sun leaders have been courting officials in the western Massachusetts city of Palmer in advance of its application to locate a casino in that part of the state.
Last week, officials of Foxwoods Resort Casino, jumped into the battle for a license in the greater Boston area. The company indicated it had joined with real estate developer David Nunes in seeking a license for the city of Milford.
The Milford casino, if it were licensed, would be about 70 miles from the Foxwoods Connecticut property, owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe.
