Argosy Casino to operate without gaming license

Mar 11, 2013 6:31 PM

Argosy Casino in Sioux City, Iowa, was not granted a gaming license by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission but that won’t stop the chips from bouncing over the riverboat casino’s gambling tables.

A spokesman for the Commission said the plan is to keep the Argosy operating so its 300 workers can continue to receive a paycheck.

The license was withheld because the operator, Penn National Gaming Inc. (PENN) and its local nonprofit sponsor, Missouri River Historical Development, no longer have an operating agreement.

There was no indication when the dispute will be resolved.
