Kansas Wyandotte Nation receives casino setback

The Wyandotte Nation in Kansas received a setback last week when a judge refused to order the federal government to accept the Park City land near Wichita in trust so that the tribe could build a casino.

The judge, however, ordered the U.S. Interior Secretary to provide quarterly reports to the court regarding the tribe’s application. The tribe was formerly known as the Wyandotte Tribe of Oklahoma.

The land involved covers some 10.5 acres near Park City that the tribe bought in 1992.
