Plans are moving ahead for construction of a hotel-casino at the Sparks marina.

The Sparks City Council affectively approved an updated special use permit on Monday after Councilman Ed Lawson withdrew his appeal of Las Vegas-based Olympia Gaming’s plans to build the Legends Bay Resort.

Original plans unveiled six years ago called for an 800-room tower and casino at the property next to the Legends shopping mall along Interstate 80 east of Reno, Nevada.

The latest scaled down plans propose a pair of 100-room buildings and a 60,000 square foot casino. No date has been set for the groundbreaking.
