Characters made popular by DreamWorks of Hollywood will begin popping up at the Sands China casinos starting July 1, according to an announcement by the two companies.
Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s subsidiary, Sands China Ltd., and DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. said the animated characters made popular by the Hollywood firm would invade the Macau casinos this summer.
It was felt that the deal shows the intention of Macau officials to diversify the economy away from gambling after years of supercharged growth that brought the Chinese enclave to the dominating position in gambling revenue.
No financial details were disclosed.
