888 Holdings, the Gibraltar-based online gaming company, will become the first foreign company to operate a legal Internet gaming system in the U.S. when it joins partners Scientific Games Corporation (SGMS) and Williams Interactive LLC in establishing online gaming in the Commonwealth of Delaware.
The three-way partners were chosen last week by the Delaware State Lottery to establish an intrastate gaming system that will offer Internet poker, casino table games and video lottery games.
They formed a team to provide a full turnkey solution for the gaming platform, content and operations services using advanced responsible gaming tools and sophisticated player tracking.
The announcement noted that the joint effort combines 888’s decade-long experience in online gaming with Scientific Games’ ability for proven government relationships through its years of lottery exposure and WMS’s premium iGaming products and services.
Delaware Lottery officials said they made their choice of a system provider following a competitive process designed to identify service providers best suited to serve the needs of the state’s gaming expansion goal.
They added that the contract will be for five years with additional extension options.
Delaware lawmakers made online gaming possible by passing a bill in June, 2012. The state also has casino gambling as well as sports betting.
