NJ to link slots with jackpot payouts in other states

Huge payouts being developed by the Powerball Lottery have attracted the attention of state lottery operators. But in New Jersey, the interest is different.

New Jersey casino regulators are looking to link the slot machines at their 12 casinos with jackpot payouts in other states. Actually, what they would like to do is exactly what International Game Technology (IGT) has done with its intrastate Megabuck jackpots.

One official said he has been aggressively approaching other states to form such a union and hopes to have a deal in place by the end of the summer.

Progressive jackpots are not new but linking them across state lines would be.
