New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez says her handling of a racetrack and casino lease is not under investigation by the FBI.
The comments were triggered by rumors that circulated after Martinez’s former campaign finance director was interviewed by the agency.
Andrea Goff issued a statement saying she had answered FBI questions related to the Downs at Albuquerque and other matters.
“Absolutely, I am confident” that the probe centered around another matter, said the governor. It was not dealing with the way she handled the 25-year lease allowing the state fairgrounds to be used to build a larger casino than the one that currently exists.
