When Scioto Downs in Columbus, Ohio, became the first racino in that state, the property’s owner, MTR Gaming Group Inc. (MNTG), promised to pay the state a $50 million license fee. Half that amount was paid initially when the racino opened on June 1, 2012.
Last week, the company announced it had paid another $25 million, thus completing its total commitment for the slots facility.
Dennis Berg, the director of the Ohio Lottery that oversees the gambling, called Scioto Downs a good partner.
“We’re grateful for Scioto Downs professional and proactive operations,” he said.
