Officials of the Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in West Virginia have advised state authorities that they plan to renew its table games license on July 1 in order to save at least 100 jobs for another year.
The property had indicated earlier that it would not renew the license after the state legislature rejected a bill that would have slashed the license fee from $2.5 million to $1 million.
Still being awaited is the prospect of the Lottery Commission approving the facility’s request to install Instant Racing machines which officials believed would increase business at a property that has seen “drastic declines” in recent months.
