For years, Twin River Casino, once the horse track called Lincoln Downs that was operated by racing-enthusiast B.A. Dario, struggled as it sought political support to convert itself into a full-fledged casino from its many years of being a slots emporium.
How things have changed since the state’s voters approved the addition of table games.
With the full-backing of the state’s lawmakers, the property had its official opening. Even Gov. Lincoln Chafee and other major political figures were on hand to cut the ribbon as the property opened its tables for gambling.
The expansion resulted in the hiring of an additional 400 workers.
