The California Senate’s approval of a gambling compact brought good news to both the tribe, the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians, and its casino partner, Station Casinos of Las Vegas.
The approval clears the way for a casino to be built on property north of Fresno, nearly 40 miles from the tribe’s reservation.
A gambling compact with Gov. Jerry Brown permits the casino to have 2,000 slot machines and 50 table games. Expected cost for the development is $200 million.
Station Casinos has had a management agreement in place with the tribe since 2003.
