Having been successful in receiving a favorable vote from the citizens of Springfield, Mass., MGM Resorts International (MGM) officials say they plan to expand the scope of their casino campaign to include the rest of the west Massachusetts region.
The company is competing for the single casino gaming license to be awarded by the Commonwealth.
Considered the biggest competitor to its $800 million development plans is Mohegan Sun, which has proposed a $1 million gaming and retail complex on 300 acres in the town of Palmer.
