Downs Racetrack announces launch of new casino

The Downs Racetrack & Casino announces the official opening of its new Casino at The Downs.  The state-of-the-art gaming facility has officially opened to guests and features a modern, Las Vegas-style gaming experience right in the heart of Albuquerque.  The casino offers 65,000 sq ft. of entertainment space including more than 700 slot machines including digital table games, a contemporary lounge and bar, a gourmet restaurant, and much more.

local residents a brand new and premier gaming experience that is close to home.  We are proud to introduce the exciting new casino and great entertainment options for our guests.”

The new gaming facility at The Downs Racetrack & Casino features a viewing area for live horse races with an oversized outdoor patio overlooking the live horseracing track with a backdrop and views of the Sandia mountains.  Attached to the new patio is the contemporary First Turn Lounge which provides a stage for live entertainment acts and performances.  The First Turn Lounge also offers signature cocktails, an extensive wine list, and 20 beers on tap including craft and microbrewery selections including the casino’s very own signature Post Time Ale available only at The Downs Racetrack & Casino. 

The new casino also provides guests with an elegant and sophisticated fine-dining experience at The Crown Room.  The restaurant features gourmet entrees from throughout the world in a private and exclusive setting, with a room capacity of 50 people.  The Crown Room is open to guests every Wednesday through Saturday between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.  Reservations are required.

In addition, The Casino at The Downs food court offers several local and unique food and beverage options.  It features desserts and pastries handcrafted by Rio Chan Foods, the distributors of Flying Star pastries, as well as Dietz and Watson gourmet deli sandwiches, Blue Bell ice cream, and unique pizzas including “Blue Corn Crusted Pizza,” “Taco Pizza,” and more cooked in a double ceramic pizza oven.  The food court also features an outdoor patio with a bar serving microbrew and cocktail selections.

The Downs Racetrack & Casino also provides a new, easy-access entrance and a parking area specifically for the casino.  Guests can now directly access the building off of Louisiana 

Boulevard, just north of Central Avenue.   The entrance will lead visitors to the free valet or the self-parking area which has more than 850 parking spots for guests.

In addition to opening of the new gaming facility, The Downs Racetrack & Casino will host live horse racing between August and October.
