New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan lobbied hard but failed to convince the legislature to pass a casino bill during the 2013 session. Still, that has not deterred her from continuing her efforts.
She has established a special commission to set up gambling regulations for a casino in New Hampshire, thus preparing the state should the legislature pass a gambling bill next year.
She insists that without a casino to compete with those soon to be built in Massachusetts will cost the residents of New Hampshire dearly.
The special commission will begin work in two weeks and is expected to have a draft on the oversight and regulation of gambling by Dec. 15.
