A wrongful death suit, bought against the IP Casino Resort in Gulfport, Mississippi, prior to it being acquired by Boyd Gaming Corp. (BYD), has been dismissed by a federal judge.
The case involved a casino customer who collapsed in his hotel bathroom the night of Aug. 6, 2009, and died the next day of alcohol poisoning combined with prescription medications.
Casino officials denied responsibility and their lawyers asked that the case be dismissed.
After reviewing the motion, U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden agreed with the defendants and dismissed the action.
