Rebates to horse race bettors remain a controversial subject within the Nevada race and sports book industry. The Nevada Gaming Commission found that out last week when Cantor Gaming asked the regulators to draft regulations allowing the activity.
Opposed to the plan, which was discussed at a three-hour workshop session, were representatives from nearly every major (and minor) race and sports book operator.
The workshop came about because the state’s lawmakers passed a bill earlier this year that legalized such rebates. The commission has until January to act on the law or give reasons why it should not be implemented.
Following the workshop presentations, the commission referred the matter to the Gaming Control Board for more information.
