N.H. panel gets look at draft gambling regulations

A panel working on regulations for a future casino in New Hampshire will get a look at draft legislation this week.

The New Hampshire Gaming Regulatory Oversight Authority meets Friday to go over draft legislation that looks at rules to regulate a casino and possibly recommend changes to the state’s existing rules on charitable gaming. The panel believes charitable gaming regulations need to be tightened separately from legislation governing a casino.

The panel must deliver draft legislation to lawmakers by Dec. 15.

Racing and Charitable Gaming director Paul Kelley said he wants to end the practice of commercial operators charging the charities fees that cut into their 35 percent share of the take.
