It didn’t take the Austintown, Ohio, township trustees much time to decide just where they planned to spend the first $1 million it receives from a racino currently under construction. It will be used to pay for a new communications system.

The money will be paid by Penn National Gaming Inc. (PENN), which is constructing the Mahoning Valley Race Course.

The funding agreement was reached after the company received permission to relocate an existing race track in suburban Columbus to Austintown, near Youngstown.

The $1 million will be for the first year. From then on, the township will receive $500,000 every year that the racino operates.
