Ky. Gov. still trying to legalize expanded gambling

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear is beginning the new year by again appealing to the legislature to revamp the state’s tax system and to legalize expanded gambling.

He said he realizes tackling the state’s tax system is a “sensitive topic,” but feels addressing these problems is why the officials were elected.

As for the gambling issue, Beshear has been unsuccessful in several attempts to get legislative approval to permit the state’s voters to express their feelings.

“They want to vote on this issue,” he said, “and we should let them decide whether to continue allowing Kentucky tax money to flow across our borders or to keep it here at home.”
