Reports out of Singapore have Malaysia’s Genting as getting ready to begin work on the former Echelon property on the Las Vegas Strip, which the company purchased from Boyd Gaming Corp. (BYD) more than a year ago.
Plans call for a multi-billion dollar development that includes a 3,500 room hotel and a casino with a gaming floor of 175,000 square feet.
Meanwhile, Genting is also hoping to finally get approval for a gambling property in South Florida and, possibly, share in New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s plans for the development of from five to seven casinos in that state.
