Maybe the title of the book should be “How to become a billionaire,” and the author would be Stanley Ho, the ailing former Macau gaming kingpin.
Recent revelations by Forbes Hong Kong Rich List have Ho’s family practically dominating the group. The most recent addition to the billionaire’s category is his 36-year-old son, Lawrence Ho, the co-CEO of Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd., (MPEL) whose net worth was given as $3.6 billion.
That’s far less than Stanley’s daughter, Pansy Ho, the partner of MGM Resorts International (MGM) in a Macau casino. She is considered the richest woman in Hong Kong with $6.8 billion while Stanley’s third wife, Ina Chan, gets in with $1.5 billion.
And, Stanley’s fourth “wife (were they ever married?)” Angela Leong, the Macau politician who also is active in setting directions for Stanley’s former company, SJM Holdings, reportedly is worth $2.85 billion, and counting.
