Vegas High Roller tries to copy London Eye success

Possibly because of the huge success the London Eye observation wheel has enjoyed in attracting tourists, others seemed compelled to try to copy it. In Las Vegas, a major observation wheel now sits in front of the Linq, across from Caesars Palace.

In May, a 17-story Capital Wheel will debut at Maryland’s National Harbor, across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C.

The $15 million attraction includes 42 gondolas with sound systems, heating and air conditioning. Planners hope to operate the facility year-round.
