The Omaha Tribal Council that once operated the now-closed Blackbird Bend casino in western Iowa, has found a new location for its casino activities.
The Omaha World-Herald newspaper reports the tribe will move to a new building in Onawa, Iowa, just south of Sioux City, Iowa. Actually, the new location is next-door to the old building.
“It’s much like a phoenix rising out of the ashes,” said a tribal spokesman. “We like to think of this as a situation where a blackbird is rising out of the flood waters.”
The old casino was shut down by the Missouri River flooding in June, 2011.
