A panel studying Delaware’s gambling industry was expected to submit a report to that state’s lawmakers by Jan. 31. But, state finance secretary Tom Cook indicated late last month that the study group was looking at Feb. 28 as a new deadline.
Now that the end of the month is approaching, it appears the panel will not meet its postponed deadline and has not set a new date for its report.
A key issue for the study group concerns the three racetrack casinos that are struggling to stay alive, despite legal Internet gambling and sports wagering.
Just how much of a hit should the state’s general fund take to keep the tracks afloat, has been designated as the panel’s key issue.
