N.J. approves linking of slot jackpots to other states

New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement has approved the linking of slots jackpots to other states. Sponsors argued such a move will generate increased business because of the larger jackpots that will result.

The announcement indicated several states, including South Dakota, are considering establishing such a multi-state operation.

International Game Technology (IGT) will operate the system under the heading, “Powerbucks.” The name, obviously, is being used to capitalize on the success of the multi-state “Powerball” lottery sales.
