KEEP to oppose Kentucky gaming expansion

Mar 10, 2014 8:09 PM

Kentucky’s supporters of expanding gaming received another blow last week with the announcement that any effort in the General Assembly to authorize a constitutional amendment referendum would be opposed by the Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP).

The group represents the state’s horse industry in legislative matters. The position is in direct conflict with efforts by racetracks in the state to permit casinos and/or racinos.

KEEP said its directors voted to oppose the proposed legislation that would permit the referendum on the constitutional amendment, thus permitting the licensing of casinos.
