The owners of the Greenbrier Resort in Charleston, West Virginia, walked away with an armful of potential cash after making a deal with the state’s lawmakers that provides a tax break for the promise of a major sports medical facility.
The Greenbrier said the $86 million facility will provide access to world-renowned doctors who cater to professional athletes. The project could generate as much as $400 million in tourism.
Over the next 10 years, Greenbrier will receive about 25 million in reduced taxes.
Greenbrier said the sports medical facility should open in 15 months.
