New Hampshire House rejects casino licensing bill

Mar 17, 2014 9:06 PM

For the past two decades, members of the New Hampshire House have consistently rejected casino bills, many of which have been passed by the state Senate.

This year was no exception.

Last week, by a vote of 173-144, the House killed a bill that would have authorized the licensing of one casino. The bill was passed previously by the Senate and was supported by Las Vegas-based Millennium Gaming, the partnership of Bill Wortman and Bill Paulos.

The Las Vegas owners of the Cannery properties have an option on the former horse track, Rockingham Park, which is ideally located in southern New Hampshire to compete with whatever facility is licensed in Massachusetts.
