Nevada’s unemployment rate ticked down a bit during the month of January but it didn’t change at all for the Las Vegas area.
On Monday, the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation said the state’s rate dropped from 9 percent to 8.7 percent during the month. In Las Vegas, the rate was unchanged at 8.9 percent, the same as it was in the preceding month.
Officials added that for the first time since 2008 the number of jobs statewide reached the 1.2 million mark.
