$3B Seminole casino deal might not survive

There is no shortage of reasons for believing the $3 billion agreement Florida Gov. Rick Scott negotiated with the Seminole Tribe of Florida might not survive the necessary review process it will be subjected to by Florida lawmakers.

State Sen. Jack Latvala, a Republican from the Clearwater area on the West Coast, focused in on one of the most obvious arguments when he told the Miami Herald, “Its fatal flaw is that it benefits only gaming operations in three southern counties. If we’re going to have to close down facilities that have been here 70-80 years so the Indians can have a monopoly and continue to expand, that’s just wrong.”

From another Florida news report: The tribe has given more than $2.7 million to more than 90 politicians, over the last three years. It’s more than the tribe gave out in the previous 12 years and far outpaces political donations by other gambling interests.
