Gaming Hall of Fame bookmaker Vic Salerno remains on track, he says, to have his pari-mutuel approach to daily fantasy sports betting up and running in time for the coming football season.
Working from Las Vegas, Salerno hopes to be doing business with existing pari-mutuel operations across the country. He is currently in the process of going through the application process for the sportsbook license that is necessary for fantasy sports operators in Nevada.
Barring unexpected surprises of one kind or another, he expects to be on a Gaming Control Board agenda in the next two or three months.
Elsewhere, the daily fantasy sports business continues under review by lawmakers and attorneys general across the U.S. Florida lawmakers failed to take action last week on a bill to regulate it. Their concern was it would open a door to online gaming for the Seminole Tribe, which currently offers the only Las Vegas-style casino gambling available in Florida.
