Major Macau casino/resort operator Melco Crown Entertainment Limited has announced that its shareholders have now approved the change of the company’s English name to Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited.
The shareholders, through special resolutions during the annual general meeting in Macau, approved the name change proposed by the company, according to the announcement.
The announcement also said that the name change takes effect upon registration of the company’s new name by the Registrar of Companies in the Cayman Islands. The company also announced its intention to change its NASDAQ ticker symbol from MPEL to MLCO. The company’s Chinese name will not be changed.
The name change was proposed after Australian casino magnate James Packer’s Crown Resorts reduced its stake in the company late last year.
