Card counter takes case to court

Card counting at Indiana casinos is not against the law and can’t be used to prevent gamblers from playing, according to a ruling by the state Court of Appeals.

The case involves a player named Thomas Donovan who was charged by casino employees in June, 2006, at Grand Victoria Casino and Resort in Rising Sun, Indiana, with card counting.

He was banished from the casino but took his case to court.

Initially, a Marion Superior Court judge sided with the casino but the Appeals Court overturned the decision because Indiana has no law prohibiting card counting.
