The annual wagering report from the Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability reveals the state collected $300.5 million in tax revenues from 26,873 gambling terminals for the 12-month period ending June 30th.
Machine numbers have grown each year since gambling began with a scant 61 machines statewide in September 2012. The number of terminals topped 27,000 by the end of July and was forecast to hit 28,000 by mid-2018.
Springfield is leading the state in terminal numbers and revenue. Video gambling remains banned in Cook County and Chicago.
