BCLC gives approval for new casino in Delta

Sep 14, 2017 9:45 AM

In Canada, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has given preliminary approval to a proposed new casino in Delta.

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment will relocate its Newton Community Gaming Centre in Surrey to an improved and expanded facility at Delta Town and Country Inn, located at the intersection of Highway 99 and Highway 17A. The site was chosen due to its alignment with Delta’s tourism strategy, distance from residential neighborhoods, and close proximity to transportation corridors, according to a release from BCLC.

The move by the BCLC allows Gateway to finalize its casino proposal, including amenities and dining facilities, for its formal submission to BCLC. If the design is approved by BCLC, it will be sent to the Delta City Council for a final ok.

Gateway operates a number of casino in Western Canada, including Burnaby’s Grand Villa Casino and New Westminster’s Starlight Casino.

Delta is a district municipality and forms part of the southern portion of greater Vancouver.
