International Game Technology (IGT) announced Monday that Christopher Spears is joining the Company as Senior Vice President and General Counsel.
Spears is now responsible for overseeing all legal and corporate governance matters for the company, and will report to IGT Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Alberto Fornaro.
Spears follows Neil Abrams into the post. Abrams is retiring from the Company effective Dec. 31, 2017, and has transitioned to the role of Senior Advisor to the CFO until his retirement.
Spears’ background includes 19 years in various roles of increasing scope and responsibility with Caterpillar Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, most recently, as Group General Counsel – Commercial and International Operations.
He has received Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Kentucky, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Berea College in Kentucky.
