The Macau government, in its annual policy address for 2018, says there are plans to place greater focus on regulation of the gaming industry. That includes the fortification of its legal framework and strengthening its supervision on security and diversification.

Of particular interest for operators is the pledge to initiate an audit program for junkets, with agents actively and immediately meeting with junket operators for anti-money laundering training and “to ensure the legal compliance and financial stability of these junkets.”

The plans were revealed in two key speeches earlier this week at the MGS Entertainment Show Summit by Macau Chief Executive Chui Sai On delivering the Policy Address for the Fiscal Year 2018 and Director of the Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, Paulo Martins Chan, as the keynote speaker.
