The Mississippi Department of Revenue reported this week that the 12 Coast casinos in the state won $94 million from gamblers last month. That’s down 5.4 percent from the $96 million in gross casino revenue during October 2016.
The data shows that total revenue this year was $998 million, or $10 million behind the same time last year. Industry observers say the difference is not likely to be made up. The levels are $45 million below the 2004 pre-Hurricane Katrina numbers.
Revenue at the river casinos dipped 11.5 percent from a year ago, with total casino revenue for Mississippi in October down by 8 percent.
