Online poker in the United Kingdom (UK) is losing ground to other forms of betting. This finding was part of the annual report from the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC), as reported by cardschat.com.
Data using revenue, participation and employment information for the period from April 2016 to March 2017, showed that online poker generated £101 million ($136 million). That contribution represented just over 5 percent of casino gaming’s gross gambling yield (GGY) of £2.6 billion ($3.5 billion).
Cardschat believes that UK poker sites are continuing to cloud the lines between casino games and poker and that casino games have become vital to many major poker site’s operational strategies in recent years.
